Arise and Shine!

“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you. See darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the Lord rises upon you and his glory appears over you.” Isaiah 60-1, 2

The word of the Lord is alive and active filled with his divine grace. The truth that is found at the core of the word reveals the hidden depth of human heart, declaring that all of us are sinful and none of us is worthy to carry on his will and purpose, but the wonderful gift of divine grace comes to our rescue, enabling us to live a life that brings glory to his mighty name.

The word of God works in many-fold ways to bless us. The word kills and heals at the same time, killing the desires and dark rebellious nature that is inherent in us and healing us by filling us with oil of joy and gladness to remain victorious in all situations and circumstances. Word of God, as the bread of life not only satisfies our spiritual hunger but ignites a deep hunger for more in our soul that draws us near to the shepherd of our soul.

Once again, the word of God with the fullness of his grace calls out, “Arise, and shine, for your light has come.”

There may be reasons not to obey the word as of yet. Years of unanswered prayers may have brought dullness in spiritual life, or long wait may have dried up the spiritual fervour, but this is the time to rise up! The light of the gospel is shining brilliantly on you, ready to take the darkness of unbelief away from God’s people. This is the time! muster your strength and stand up in the grace of the Lord!

When you rise up, you may witness the things that are discouraging to the soul, but the Lord has called his people to shine, not in bright places but wherever there is darkness. There may be darkness of lack of faith, disobedience and stubbornness of heart, but believe on the light of the gospel that is deposited in you and ready to break forth and shine like never before!

Your faith can see what your intellect, logic and knowledge can’t. Your faith coupled with the power of the living word of God can move every mountain and turn every darkness into light for the praise of God’s glory!

Rise up and Shine for the Lord says, “let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16


Holy Spirit as forerunner

“As bad as you are, you know how to give good things to your children. How much more, then, will the Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” Luke 11:13

Why do we need the Holy Spirit? Why is it important to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit before we receive any material blessing from God, the Father?

Father knows in all his wisdom that the Holy Spirit as forerunner, prepares a ground for God’s children to receive divine blessings to bring glory to his name.

  1. Holy Spirit prepares a way for God’s children to enjoy the blessings that Father bestows upon them. Holy Spirit enables us to see what we have, and value those blessings without comparing them with others. Holy Spirit reveals the purpose behind our blessings and  strengthens us to walk in the shadow of them while turning into an instrument for God’s kingdom.

God’s blessings work in unity of the spirit. Holy Spirit, as the binding force, captures our thoughts and bring them under the submission of Christ, so that we may see clearly God’s divine purpose and our position in Christ through those blessings.

  1. Holy Spirit enables a believer to offer perfect praise to Lord God, who is Holy. Perfect praise is the fruit of a life that has been touched by the life-giving power of the Holy Spirit.

When the Cherubim appeared to Isaiah, he cried out, ” I am ruined, for I am a man of unclean lips and I live among unclean people.” But when his lips were touched by the living coal, he spoke out,  “Here am I, Send me.” Without the touch of the Holy Spirit we see half truth that fills us with despair and brokenness but when the light of the spirit shines, it fills us with renewed hope, peace and love and make us cry out in great confidence and reverent fear, “Lord here am I, Send me”.

Father desires his children to bring him perfect praise and honour so that they may receive more than they could ever ask or desire.

  1. Holy Spirit is the encourager and helper who comes down from God, the Father. Every new endeavour or blessing brings a change in our lives, but with the help of the Holy Spirit, we become adjusted to whatever change it brings and still remain faithful to the giver of those blessings.
  1. Holy Spirit gives us utterance. The Spirit enables us to tell what the Lord has done in our lives, to encourage others by giving the good news that God is at work and what he has done in our lives, he is capable to do in anyone’s life.
  1. Holy Spirit brings priority in our lives. Wherever the Spirit moves, it turns chaos into order.

The Spirit was hovering over the deep and when the word was spoken, divine order of things appeared. Holy Spirit is always moving as the living and eternal force of the most high God, ready to bring order into the chaos and disorder of our daily lives, so that we become wise enough to count our days and thank God for every single moment.

Material blessings are important but the Holy Spirit is the essential live-giving force that breathes power and energy into every blessing that we can ask for.

Are you praying for new blessings? Ask the Father to send His Holy Spirit before those blessings so that when new blessings arrive, you may receive them in Christ, and use them to bring glory to his Kingdom.

One thing God has spoken, two things have I heard

“One thing God has spoken, two things have I heard that you, O God, are strong, and that you, O Lord, are loving.” Psalm 62:11

God doesn’t need Bible scholars or learned preachers to carry his word. His eyes are looking for those who are humble in heart, those who revere his sovereignty and are in search of the hidden manna found at the core of his divine word.

When Jesus began his ministry on earth, he used to speak in parables. His disciples would sometimes complaint about the mysterious way Jesus used to talk about the treasures of heaven.

God still speaks the same way. The message found in his word is hidden but a wise man who has made up his mind to receive the revelation hidden in his word to build his house on rock will find it.

The revealer of the mysteries found in God’s word sends out his invitation, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.” The author of our faith makes the mysteries known to those who come to him with a burning desire to get hold of his word to know more about him.

Why does God choose to send his word wrapped up in some unknown mystery? God wants everyone to know about him so why his word is sometimes hard to understand?

God does it so that perhaps, in pursuit of finding the hidden message of his word, we may come near to him and experience  the inexpressible joy that his word brings to the soul and spirit. God is love and in his love he leads his people through different ways to reveal the enduring power of his word, to nourish his people so that they may carry his divine message that has been revealed to them and make it known to others.

God is still speaking in mysterious ways. He is willing to break his word to take the hidden manna out that nourishes our soul and keep it healthy and safe from all attacks. Jesus is knocking at the door for he eagerly desires to share his word with you. Will you open the door and let him come in to feed you with his word? His word might not taste good at first since the light of the gospel reveals the hidden depths of our mind and hearts, but later it will fill your life with a sweet smelling aroma that will bring many to Christ.

how wide, long, high and deep is the love of Christ

I pray that you being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge – that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.” Ephesians 3:17-19

God loves his creation but doesn’t show the deep ocean of his love to everyone. It is limited to just a few. The access to the hidden layers of his love is given to those who choose to remain in God’s love no matter what life brings to them.

To remain in the love of God is to remain in his word. The blessing of his word is not restricted to a sect or denomination. It’s not just the preachers or pastors who have the keys to the treasure of God’s word. God can speak through anyone at any-time for the praise of his glory.

God uses little children to reveal the mystery of his word. He can use illiterate to teach the hidden depth of his wisdom to well trained pastors and preachers. Blessed are those who are willing to receive the word of God wherever it comes from.

Someone who has trained his mind to remain in God’s love by remaining in his word prepares a ground to receive more revelation from God about his unique love.

Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego stood on the word of God despite being in fiery furnace. Since they remained in God’s love, God revealed the power of his love through his presence that became their saving grace.

Paul and Silas remained in the love of Christ despite being in jail and God revealed his unique love as their deliverance that became a testimony for prisoners and the jailer. Not just that, the obedience filled love of Paul and Silas brought the gift of salvation to the one who made them prisoner!

Those who remain in God’s love witness revelation of God’s love. Only they are equipped to understand God’s love that surpasses all knowledge. God’s love is as wide and long as it is high and deep. God’s love fills not just every single moment of our lives on this earth but goes beyond to fill the life to come. His love spreads in all known and unknown directions.

But to enable us to see a glimpse of his love, God added hedges around his love to bring it within the confines of human life. The love that was hard to grasp was made to fit within the boundaries of human understanding. The unapproachable, incomprehensible God and his attributes were made accessible to the creation for the praise  of God’s glory!

To know the dimensions of God’s love is to know what he has done for his creation. Love of God is moving in all directions wherever there is life. Try to get hold of the immeasurable by being in his love for he is more than willing to get confined within the limits of his creation. The surpassing greatness is ready to reveal itself by making it small enough to fill every chamber of human understanding.

The divinity has arrived, broken itself down to the point of the fallen creation that had no hope so that by joining those pieces together by the power of God, creation might receive its fullness in Christ!

Rejoicing in heaven!

“There will be more rejoicing in heaven over one sinner who repents than ninety-nine righteous persons who do not need to repent.” Luke 15:7

The repentance of one sinner brings great rejoicing in heaven. But who is the sinner? Don’t we all count ourselves better than our neighbour? Aren’t we all eager to find fault in others and commends our own actions?

And what is righteousness? Don’t we think that we are righteous because of our acts of righteousness that we do in front of others?

The truth is that “all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 3:23

We can’t walk blamelessly nor have we been called to walk blamelessly before the father; it’s the power of his presence that makes us worthy not to walk but to fall down in his awesome presence and stand in his strength.  So do we have anything to boast about except the finished work on cross that has brought salvation and the message of reconciliation to mankind?

Reconciliation with God originates as a desire in the heart of a humble child of God who has found himself unworthy to stand before the Sovereign God. The intensity of the desire makes him seek the saviour who alone can take not just the burden of sin but the guilt associated with it. When the saviour comes into a life, he shakes everything with his powerful presence. The hidden rebellious nature finds no place to hide in the light of gospel. When a child of God becomes aware of his own flawed nature and in the humility of his heart, cries out before God to save him, something happens in his life.

Life may seem all the same on the surface but deep within the heart of believer an ocean of love, hope and peace flows that quenches his thirst. Having been satisfied with this life giving water, the child of God runs after for more the way a deer panteth for the streams of water. The more he fills himself, the more he desires to be filled and during the course of this life changing experience, God’s child finds himself being drawn closer to the source of life.

Heaven rejoices over such sinner who was and is not because of the saving grace that has reconciled him with God, the father.

It’s the acceptance of the saving grace that makes one worthy of heaven’s rejoicing. The one who considers himself righteous has no place to share in the happiness of heaven!
