Have you touched the Lord?

All those who touched him were healed. Mark 6:56

Touching the Lord brings divine healing into our lives that go beyond the physical realm, making us whole in spirit, soul and body. The blessing is for everyone,  whoever comes to him with a desire to receive. Touching the Lord is to touch his righteousness, his holiness, his favor, his flesh that has has fulfilled the written word and brought freedom to God’s children, his blood of eternal covenant that speaks, and his wholeness that declares us whole.

Touching his righteousness – Lord alone is righteousness. We have all sinned and fell short of his glory. His righteousness is what declare us righteous. We can never earn or receive the status of “righteous” before God the father. In his grace he has blessed us with blessings of not only this world but the world to come. When we declare ourselves weak and sinner and acknowledge his power to give us freedom, we take the first step in faith to share in his righteousness.

Touching his holiness – The Lord is Holy and no eye can see him. Blessed be the name of Jesus through which we gain access into the holiness and become partakers of it. The grace that has come down to us covers us to see the holy God, our creator. We don’t need to hide ourselves from the living God, since we have come to him through Jesus – the fullness of grace.

Touching his flesh – Word turned into flesh two thousands years ago and lived among us. Touching the flesh of the Lord is to get hold of the living word in faith that the word alone is powerful to save, heal and bring a change in our lives. Mere reciting the Biblical verses doesn’t do any good unless the heart is made to believe and trust of God’s promises. Go into the presence of the Lord, get hold of his word, don’t let it go despite whatever you see in physical realm and it will bring down your miracle.

Touching his blood – The blood of the Lord that was shed from the cross and has bound us into an eternal covenant with God, our father. This blood testifies that we are heirs and co-heirs with Jesus since we and him, both have the same father. The blood of covenant entitled us to receive every blessing that father has desire for us for his praise and glory.

Touching his person that is whole – The one who is who was and who is to come, mighty God, Eternal father, Price of peace, Lion of the tribe of Judah, Miraculous healer, Bright morning star, resurrected Lord – What name of Jesus do you think of when you go to him in faith. He is who is he. He will give honor to his name by fulfilling your need that made you to approach his throne.

Touching the Lord needs persistent efforts, strong determination and focus that is not wavered by your past experiences or anything else. The woman who touched Jesus and was healed had the courage to silence every voice. She focused on Jesus – the one who only could heal her. She was determined and strong enough to go through the crowd opposing her and by her persistence brought down her miracle.

Do you have the same zeal and courage? Are you looking for physical healing or material blessing? Have you been praying for long but haven’t seen the result yet? Be strong, this is the time to muster all our strength and rise up from your present situation. Shut your ears from the deception of adversity that whispers in your ears, “Your God has left you alone.” Stand firm despite all negative thoughts, emotions and past experience that is stopping you to receive your miracle. Go and touch the Lord in faith and you will be blessed, healed and made whole.

Spiritual Endurance

Our body is the temple of God as written in 1 Cor. 6:19, “Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?” Its amazing how God has made us. Psalm 139:14, ” I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.”

The Lord has blessed us with intellect, wisdom and reasoning. He has developed a healing mechanism that comes in effect in case the body is attacked by sickness or other factors that try to weaken the body. Proper diet and regular exercise are essential for healthy body and mind. God in all his wisdom has not only blessed us with a physical body but also with a spiritual one. Our spiritual body has eyes, ears and mind and it needs proper food and regular exercise to maintain spiritual health and immunity.

The Lord has desired harmony between our physical and spiritual body but our flesh try to raise its head against the authority of inner spiritual man.

Some of us deliberately try to weaken the authority of the spirit by not listening to its gentle voice. Some may weaken a part of their spiritual body by not diligently putting it to the Kingdom work.

Some of us may have spiritual feet at work without the realization that our spiritual eyes are closed. Luke 24 talks about two disciples who were going to Emmaus. While on road they were talking about the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and soon the Lord joined them but they couldn’t recognize him, since their spiritual minds were clouded by disbelief and doubts and despite talking about Jesus and walking with him, they couldn’t recognize him.

Many of us may have spiritual hands at work, with closed spiritual ears that are reluctant to hear and obey the Lord . Jesus says plainly to such workers in Matthew 7:21-13, ““Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’

How important it is to develop the strength of spiritual body by feasting on the revealed word of God every day! How important it is to diligently put to work all parts of the spiritual body so that the inner man may grow and raise to the stature of the image of Christ.

Paul says in 1 Tim. 4:8, “Physical training is good, but training for godliness is much better, promising benefits in this life and in the life to come.” Spiritual exercise takes us from one level of endurance to another by building spiritual muscles.

The Lord knows the condition of our spiritual health and prescribes a set of exercises that will take us from one level of endurance to another. Heavenly Father, in all his wisdom and love, uses a variety of equipment to help us build spiritual muscles. What we may see as trials or hardship may be a tool the Lord is using to turn us more into the image of Christ.

The trials that the Lord brings into our lives are not meant to torment nor to discourage us but to turn us into living stones that are ready to fit into the temple of God in which the Lord lives by his spirit.

Its hard to remain faithful during the time of spiritual warfare or trials but the Lord provides pure spiritual milk and meat to sustain us during this time.

No temptation is beyond what we can’t bear. The Lord is faithful and once we have been through the course of trials, He will provide a way out. We will come out more than victorious in Christ and find ourselves renewed in the light of the image of Jesus that heavenly father has destined for us, with strong spiritual muscles and much spiritual strength.

Jesus: The guarantee of a better covenant

Hebrews 7:26, “Such a high priest meets our need – one who is holy, blameless, pure, set apart from sinners, exalted above the heavens. Unlike the other high priests, he does not need to offer sacrifices day after day, first for his sins, and then for the sins of the people. He sacrificed for their sins once and for all when he offered himself. For the law appoints as high priest men who are weak, but the oath, which came after the law, appointed the Son, who has been made perfect forever.”

God, in his love and compassion has not only given us his son as our high priest but also made him a guarantee of a better covenant.

Covenant means an agreement, a contract between God and his people.  “When God made a covenant with Abraham and found no one greater for him to swear by, he swore by himself, saying, “I will surely bless you and your descendants.”  Heb 6:13-14

Abraham received the promised blessings but God in his desire to bless his people more than what they deserve, went ahead to extend the blessings of Abraham onto those who carry the name of Jesus. The blessings that came down to Abraham were a shadow to what was to come upon the followers of Jesus. Since God never changes nor does he alters his ways, He is inviting people to come and take part in the covenant blessings through Jesus – the guarantee of what God has promised. God used the guarantee of a better covenant to make his covenant firmly grounded in his word when he sent his son as the fulfillment of his word in flesh. The covenant has been sealed by the coming of his Son Jesus Christ and awaits its fulfillment in the physical realm Jesus’ name.

Anything you asked in my name, I shall do it for you. Ask and your joy will be complete. Didn’t Jesus speak these words with his disciples in accordance with the desire of God’s heart to bless his people.

Why do we still see people asking and not receiving? The answer lies in patience endurance! Abraham waited before he received the promised blessings. In the same way God’s covenant blessings await the fulfillment of time to arrive. Some people argue – Why others are getting what they want except me? Is God partial? Does he want to give more to some and less to others? In Physical realm it does appear since there is so much inequality in the world, but in God’s kingdom things appear in different order. “ “Those who want to be the greatest must be the servant of all.” Who can accept such teaching? Only the one who has tasted the joy that is found at the core of God’s promises. The joy stays even though a child of God doesn’t see the fulfillment, but doesn’t the presence of divine joy prove the presence of joy-giver and prince of peace? And when the prince has arrived can anyone stop the blessings to reach God’s people?  He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things”? Romans 8:32

Only one thing is needed!

“You are worried and upset about many things but only one thing is needed.” Luke 10:42

The verse above is taken from a passage in Luke when Jesus and his disciples were passing through a village. There was a kind-hearted woman named Martha invited the Lord to come to her house.

Martha was an ordinary woman blessed with precious gifts of kindness and hospitality. She wanted the Lord to visit her so when she heard that Jesus was passing through her village, he thought of grabbing the opportunity to serve the Lord.  Martha knew that if Jesus accepts her invitation, that means extra work for her since Jesus was with his disciples, but  that didn’t bother her at all since the desire to have Jesus at her place was stronger than the burden of extra work and preparations that she had to make. Moreover she must be thinking that her sister Mary would help her to serve the Lord.

But when Jesus arrived, it was altogether different. Mary, instead of helping her sister sat the feet of the Lord and listened to what the master had to say while Martha had to bear the burden of all extra work. She got upset and started complaining to the Lord about all what she had to do.

Does it sound familiar to you? Martha had a heart for the Lord and that’s why she opened her house for him. But her love for the Lord was limited to the point of inviting him on her terms. Martha had worked hard to please the Lord and she wanted him to come to the house and be pleased to see her hard work. Sometimes, we do the same thing; we open our homes to the Lord since we have a desire to serve him but once he has accepted our invitation, we want to please him with the works of our hands, entertain him the way we plan and desire him to listen to what we have to say.

How can the one who says all authority in heaven and earth has been given to me come in our lives and not manifest his powerful presence by his divine control over our lives? We can choose to call him to come to us, but we can’t control what happens once he has arrived. Wherever the King goes, he rules.

If you have opened your heart at the voice of the Lord and made a decision to serve him, it’s great! But once the Lord has come he wants to rule and speak. He doesn’t come to appreciate the work of our hands, he comes to fill us with his presence where the word turned flesh opens himself to us and desire us to listen what he has to say!

Nothing pleases the Lord more than to see a child of God come to sit in his presence to listen. What we say in his presence does not matter, what matters is to sit at the feet of the master and learn from him when he shares from his divine word that nourishes the soul and revives the spirit. Its his word that takes all burdens away and even the hard work that is being done for the Lord seem nothing for the glory of his word overshadows everything else. Without him taking control over our lives, even the work that we do to please him will turn into burden and we will begin to complain the way Martha did.

Invite Jesus in your life, have a desire to serve him but listen what the Lord is saying to you! He may be asking you to leave your complaining nature or leaving the burden of all the work you want to do for him. He may not need all the works of your hands at all. But one thing he wants from you is your company and fellowship. Learn while quietly listening to the Lord and he will fill you up with enough strength to carry on his work for his glory.

Don’t hold back, lengthen your cords for you will flourish!

Doubt and faith can’t go together for doubt gives birth to fear that paralyses the spiritual fervency, which is essential to bring the will and purpose of God’s heart to realization.

Faith waits for the appointed time to bring the promised blessings to reality. Child of God, safeguard your faith from the attacks of doubts and bring it to completion of time so that you may receive God’s choicest blessings. “the revelation is for appointed time and it will surely come to pass.”

Doubt gets its power from what we see, hear and experience while faith sees the unseen blessings as promised in the word of God, rejoices to hear the hope shouting in anticipation of forthcoming glory and is free from the influence of any human experience. Faith is the only way to please God. “Those who come to God must have faith that he exists and reward those who deserve it.” Heb 11:1

A doubtful person can’t perceive the world of unseen blessings. For him, his experiences become a driving force that lead his course of action. A man of faith is not confined by any experience; he goes wherever the Lord wants him to go, just as a sheep follows his shepherd. God sometimes leads his people through unknown paths and roads to strengthen their faith. Blessed are those who remain faithful during their journey through valleys and shadows of darkness for at the end they will receive their reward from the Lord.

Don’t limit your faith by looking at it through your personal experiences! Your God is limitless and his power can’t be affected by any past failure, or closed doors that you might have encountered in the past. Don’t hold back! let your mind know that your God is beyond all and your body will follow to accomplish great works for his kingdom.

Our God is God of multiplication who has keys to all the doors. He is Almighty. Let your faith grow on the ground of the rock of his word and promises and not on the sand of your experiences and limited knowledge.

Be a partaker in his limitless and he will turn your scarcity into his glorious abundance that will be too much for you to keep.
