Ephesians 1:18-20, “Having the eyes of your hearts enlightened, that you may know what is the hope to which he has called you, what are the riches of his glorious inheritance in the saints, and what is the immeasurable greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the working of his great might that he worked in Christ when he raised him from the dead and seated him at his right hand in the heavenly places.
In above verses Paul is praying for the congregation of Ephesians that the eyes of their hearts be enlightened to know the hope, glorious inheritance and immeasurable greatness of HIS power.
Hope in Christ is the power to know and walk in the direction of the promised blessings. No one is capable to walk in obedience unless God sends his grace to sustain the soul of the believer in his time of need. We walk by sight not by faith but to live a Godly life in Christ demands sacrificial obedience that doesn’t appear in the members of our body unless we submit our ways to the Lord and believe that his ways are higher than ours and his thoughts are always in our favor. What we need to do is to wait in his presence and receive the mighty grace to walk and run and soar in his glory while we are waiting the fulfillment of his promises in our lives. Waiting could last for a few days, months or years but the Lord is faithful and the one who has to come will not delay but will come to bless his people .
The moment our King appears, he changes the focus of our hearts. We begin to see things from HIS perspective and in HIS way. We begin to value things the way we have never done before. The spirit of thanksgiving begins to take reign of our lives and all of a sudden we realize that blessings are a means to come closer to him by using them for his glory and not for any other purpose. We change the focus of our heart and know that we have much more than we could ever keep. We see ourselves as heirs of his great inheritance.
Inheritance in Christ is our portion that God has assigned us in this life and the life to come. The riches of his glorious inheritance empower us to walk, run and soar in his glory. The mighty power of God takes over and we, weak as we are, become able to stand and proclaim his word to bring people from darkness to the kingdom of light. In faith, we become co-partners with Christ. The faith generated power begins to transform our mind and heart. This is the same power that God used when he raised Christ from dead. That power begins to bring the dead things back to life in our lives. We begin to realize that we have fullness of life in this life and the life to come in Jesus name for his praise and glory!
