The Resting Spirit of the Lord

Isaiah 11:2, “And the Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him, the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the Spirit of counsel and might, the Spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord.”

Isaiah 11 talks about the Spirit and its manifestation in numerous ways to glorify the name of the Lord. It tells us that the Spirit of the Lord “rests upon Him.” Please note that the Spirit will ‘Rest” as opposed to the visitation of the Spirit.

Often times we tend to relate the presence of the Spirit with the experience that it produces in our body and senses. Some people feel warmness and a flow of electricity in the body. Some people start talking in tongues and others raise their voices and clap. Some people are filled with the joy of the Lord and others cry in the presence of the Spirit.

These are some of the experiences that we go through being in the environment where we feel the presence of the Spirit.

But “Resting of the Spirit” is different than having an “experience” in Spirit filled environment.

When the Spirit rests, it fills the person first with the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, then with Counsel and might, and also with the Spirit of Knowledge and the fear of the Lord.

The Spirit of wisdom is manifested in the way a child of God makes decisions in His daily life to glorify the name of the Lord. The Spirit of Counsel prepares us to encourage others and the Spirit of might prepares us to do mighty work in the name of the Lord. With all these blessings come Knowledge of the word of God.

The Word of Godbegins to give us a new meaning according to the need to the hour to minister to us and others. And at the end, we are filled with the fear of the Lord that takes all fears away from our lives.

The “Spirit that rests” comes when we use the gifts and talents that the Lord bestow upon us when we experience the presence of the Spirit in congregation and while praising and worshipping with other believers.

When we experience the presence of the Spirit, The Lord fills us with spiritual gifts and talents according to His will and purpose. And if we faithfully use those gifts and talents to glorify the Lord, we are blessed with the Spirit that rests.

May the Lord fill us with a zeal to use gifts and talents that we receive in His presence so that the “Resting Spirit” may be our portion to glorify His name.

Taste the peace of God today!

The Lord is the creator of heaven and earth. He has created everything to bring his glory and renown known to mankind so that the creation may know about the creator by looking at the works of his hands.

The world is full of Lord’s glory. Heaven and earth declare that He could do what no-one can. He is the source of all. He created us in our mothers womb. He created birds of the air, animals that graze of the surface of earth and the fish of the sea. He provides food for his creation. HE desires His children to have fellowship with Him so that they may know more about their creator.

Those of us who believe in His existence or those who may not believe in his existence, both have a desire deep inside their hearts to know who created them.We may keep ourselves busy in our daily lives but the desire to know our heavenly father never leaves us.

People in ancient days used to travel and live in caves to know about their creator. In this age and time, there are still those who desire to have a relation with their creator. But the question is who can tell us about the one who is invisible. And how would we know if what is being told to us is true or not. Who has all this knowledge?

God sent his son to the earth so that those who believe in him may not parish but have everlasting life.  There may be many prophets and preachers but one saviour whose name is Jesus. He came down into the image of most High God to enable us to know about the most High Go. Those who accept Him know and can experience the peace that is beyond all human understanding. The peace that Jesus gives  is everlasting, meaning it remains in all situations. It never leaves not forsakes for it has its origin in heaven not on earth.

If you want to experience this unique peace, Jesus has already sent out the invitation, “Come unto me all yo heavy laden and I will give you rest. ”

If you want to receive the peace just accept the invitation and say Jesus I receive your peace, come inside my heart.Once you have spoken it , you will see a difference in your life. Try it today!
