Praise the Lord

Psalm 103:1-2, “Praise the Lord O my soul; all my inmost being, praise his holy name. Praise the Lord O my soul and forget not all his benefits. Who forgives all your sins.”

How good it is to praise the Lord in the assembly of his people. When people of God gather together, God sets his throne in their midst, according to the word of God that where two or three gather together in my name, I am there in their midst. Bible emphasises that as children of God we should have fellowship with each other. A coal when left alone can’t do anything but when fire filled believers come together in one accord at one place then miracles and wonders take place. It is written that on the day of Pentecost people were together at one place in one accord and sound of wind from heaven filled the house where they were and each one of them were touched by the mighty tongues of fire. This is the blessing that come upon those who gather together in one accord.

When people with one purpose and fullness of one spirit raise their voices in praise of the works of most High God, then even the unbelievers are filled with great reverence for the Lord and they feel convicted to accept Him as their Lord and Saviour. In Acts chapter 2 when the believers gathered together at one place to worship the Lord, then people from different nations heard them speaking in their own tongues. How strange it is that each one of them heard them speaking in their own native language? Our Lord is gracious to both believers and nonbelievers and He alone can use the spirit filled believers to pray for those who cant pray for themselves, in their own language. The way the Lord enabled the believers to speak the wonders and mighty works of the Lord in the language of those who were present there at that time.

Praise and worship in the congregation of God’s people is a gift from the Lord. Its the Spirit of the Lord that brings like minded people together who in one accord and with the indwelling spirit can raise their voice to the throne of God who is in heaven so that blessings may flow from heaven to earth.

Sometimes, it is hard to praise the Lord when we go through adverse situations that dictate us to do just the opposite. When such seasons arrive in our lives, it is important that we go on our knees and ask the Lord for forgiveness and at the same time we should start speaking to ourselves, asking our soul to praise the Lord.

We should speak to ourselves and command the members of our body that try to rebel and raise their voices against the authority of most high God. We should raise our voice and in the authority of Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour command the members of our body to come in complete submission to the authority of most High God. Speaking out-loud is important so that ears hear our own voice and our mind may follow the direction of the voice that speaks in the authority of Jesus Christ.

Speak to yourself today, “Praise the Lord my soul.” Repeat it everyday until it becomes a habit and an essential part of your daily living.
