A true Israelite

John 1:47-49, “Jesus saw Nathaniel coming toward him and said of him, “Behold, an Israelite indeed in whom there is no deceit.” Nathaniel said to him, “How do you know me?” Jesus answered him, “Before Philip called you, when you were under the fig tree, I saw you.” Nathaniel answered him, “Rabbi, you are the Son of God! You are the king of Israel.”

A true Israelite is the one who gives glory to God in everything he does. Philip brought Nathaniel to Jesus and when Jesus saw Nathaniel he said that he was a true Israelite in whom there is no deceit. Deceit or the deception is the cloud that envelops the minds of unbelievers so that they may not see and worship the glory of God. The cloud is the deception of the enemy so that God’s people may not offer him the service that the most High God deserve. When surrounded by cloud, God’s own people can’t recognise him. When Jesus appeared to his disciples after resurrection in John 21, the disciples couldn’t recognise him even though they had been with the Lord. A true Israelite has a childlike faith. Nathaniel had childlike faith that made him trust Jesus when he said that I had seen you under the fig tree even before Philip called you. Nathaniel right away worshipped the Lord by saying, “You are the Son of God. You are the King of Israel.”

Do we have the same child like trust on Jesus that believes on His word “I have seen you even before you came to me.”

The Lord’s eyes are moving around the earth to seek the true worshippers. True worshippers worship the Lord in Spirit and truth. Those who believe on the word of Lord that he knew us even before we came to him, confirm that Jesus is the Son of God who has authority on past present and future, for He is the Alpha and the Omega. The beginning and end.

Whatever you are going through today, know that the Lord has seen you even before you came to him. Trust on his word and he will reward you the way he rewarded Nathaniel when he said, “You shall see greater things.”
