Jesus says in Matthew 11:28-30, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”
Jesus is giving this invitation to one and all. The King of Kings and the Lord of Lords is saying, “Come to me.”
People go to Jesus for various reasons: some because they are sick and wanted to receive healing, others because they have used all resources and strategies but haven’t received any success and some in hope to receive material, financial or other type of blessing.
Jesus has opened a way for all. His blessings are not restricted to a sect of people. It is open to everyone who takes the invitation, “Come.”
Jesus promises to give rest to everyone. The only condition is that they have to acknowledge that they are weary and heavy laden.
Those who come to Jesus will find rest but Jesus will not let them take his rest for free. He will give them his yoke.
Jesus’ yoke is to spread the kingdom of God. His yoke is that every knee bows down and every tongue confess that only in God are victory and strength to be found.
If you have come to the Lord, you will find rest from your burden and will be filled with a zeal to work for the kingdom of God so that everyone could receive the same peace and healing as you have received.
Once you have received Jesus’ yoke, you need not worry about what and how to manage his yoke. He will teach you and will strengthen you with his Holy Spirit to carry on his work to glorify his name.
