The temptation of Jesus

Matthew 4 talks about the temptation of Jesus when He was led by the Holy Spirit into the desert and there He didn’t eat or drink anything for 40 days. When the forty days were over he was hungry and devil came to tempt Him.

Holy Spirit is given by the God the father as our eternal helper and the leading of the Spirit always takes us to the next spiritual level for the Glory of God. The Spirit took Jesus into the desert to be tempted by the devil. There may have been occasions in your life where you might wonder how in your life you have come to a place where nothing seems to be moving, no progress in life and it seems life has come to the dead end despite all your efforts to live a Godly life. Don’t be discouraged. Be patient and you will know at the end that it was the Holy Spirit who has brought you to the desert for your spiritual growth. And at the end you will be declared more than victorious in Christ.

Jesus was tempted by the devil in three different ways and he still uses the same strategy to tempt those who want to live a Godly life in Jesus.

“If you are the Son of God, tell these stones to turn into bread.”

Devil comes to tempt us by looking at our immediate need. If you are not financially well off, single, unemployed, etc. he will whisper in your ear, “Why are you not blessed in a particular area in your life even though God has made clear promises to make your prosperous in His word?” Thief comes to steal kill and destroy and his intent is to use your immediate need to sow a seed of doubt in your relationship with your heavenly father that has been restored by the blood of the lamb. Don’t give into the negative thoughts. Use the sword of the Spirit and destroy the word of the enemy by saying, “Even though my God blesses me or not, He is still my God and Saviour.” And the devil will run away.

“If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down. For it is written, “He will command his angels to lift you up…”

When devil sees that He couldn’t weaken your relationship with heavenly father, He tried to weaken our stance on the word of God by creating doubts about God’s promises. You cannot possibly stand on the word of God if you only read the Bible but never takes time to understand or meditate on the promises of God. Those who study the Word of the Lord  day and night are filled with Godly wisdom, “I have more wisdom than my teachers for I meditate on your word.”

In order to defeat devil, you don’t need human wisdom but the wisdom of God that comes down by spending time in His presence and meditating on His word. Jesus says “Unless you eat my flesh and drink my blood you have no life in you” This is the life that you need to defeat the devil and his forces that come to take your faith away from the promises of God.

Be filled up with the word of God so that what comes out when tempted is the sword of the word of God to kill the evil forces.

“All this I will give you, if you will bow down and worship me.”

Often time, a believer is tempted to think that why do ungodly make more progress in their lives? Why those who are away from the Lord seem successful more than those who cry before the Lord day and night? Sometimes, we think their lives are better than us. Beware! This is the tool of the enemy to take away your inheritance that is kept for those who believe and keep their courage until the end. When things seem rough and no solution is imminent, worship your God and He will fill you with Godly strength, the way Paul and Silas were filled with power and the doors of the prison were opened. Don’t be discouraged for that will prove to the enemy that he has become successful in his attempts to make you  worship him. Worship your God and only Him, for He is the living God. The  tempter will run away and the angels will come to help you.

Faith Walk

Do you want to see your  faith working in the natural realm?

Begin with a living hope, for hope precedes faith and faith turns hope into reality.

Don’t limit your blessings by what you have seen or experienced. Believe the unexpected, walk in the unknown, and know that you are never alone.

Walking in faith is not in human nature for we walk by sight, make decisions based on our past experiences and know and speak about what we have seen. But faith, on the opposite, sees the unseen, makes decisions based on the  foundation of the word of God and walks in the realm of the promised blessings even before they arrive.

SIGHT V. FAITH

SIGHT

1. Believes the seen.

2. Relies on the past experiences.

3. Knows only what it has experienced, heard, seen.

4. Calls the seen and experienced world  “real”.

5. Narrow and limited.

FAITH

1. Turns hope into reality.

2. Relies on its author’s experiences.

3. Makes decisions based on the solid foundation on the Word of God.

4. Not restricted by what it has seen, experienced of heard.

5. Knows no fear, no doubt, no limitations.

Hebrews 11:1, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”.

Since human nature doesn’t believe unless it has seen, it is important to take deliberate efforts to practice faith daily in small matters so that the scope of faith enlarges to include the unseen blessings.

Our mind opposes our faith. The first step to walk in faith is to tame the mind by discipling it not to focus on the thoughts that are distracting in nature. Reading the Bible daily, meditating on the word of God, spending time in to find out the practical application of the Word in today’s life is the only way to begin walking in faith.

If you have never experienced faith walk, Ask Jesus to help you. Say this prayer:

“Lord, you are the author and finisher of my faith. I ask you to help me walk in faith. Take all distractions away from my life that are blocking my vision to see what you have in store for me. What I can never imagine and ask is what you have planned for me. I am ready to receive them. I am ready to walk in faith today and everyday. Help me!
In Jesus name Amen!

Make every effort to enter through the narrow door

Luke 13: 24, “Make every effort to enter through the narrow door because many I tell you, will try to enter but will not be able to.”

Jesus encourages us to make every effort to enter through the narrow door of abundant life and divine blessings.

Some of us give up more often than others. It’s true that the more we are surrounded by God’s promises and His divine encouragement, the more we tend to lose heart and become discouraged.

We make an action plan and gather resources and strength to take the first step. We seem fine as long as things go in alignment with our action plan. If we see a failure approaching or a distraction coming on our way, we become extra cautious and start second guessing our judgement to move with the plan. We begin to judge every turn of events and take initial failure as a message from God not to go any further. We lose courage and quit.

What we don’t realize is that it might be a deception from the enemy who is trying hard to steal our blessings by not letting us put our best efforts forward. Enemy comes to steal, kill and destroy. it’s not just our salvation that he tries to steal, he also keeps an eye on  our wordly blessings. He is aware of our life style and habits and tries every way to deceive us, if we don’t stand on the word of God.

Enemy puts his best effort either to stop or delay our blessings.

The word of God commands us to “make every effort” to receive the eternal blessings in the name of Jesus.

Father wants us not only to declare and claim the blessings in Jesus name, but also to take necessary action, and move in faith, work hard and receive them.

Mere claiming the promises of God won’t bring us any blessings. What brings the abundance of heaven down to us is  our sincere walk in  faith coupled with our best efforts and steel determination that says “Father, I have already received what you have promised and no one can take them away from me. No matter what failure I see today, tomorrow everyone will see me succeed in Jesus’ name.”

God has called us to live life in all its abundance but we can’t make God’s plan of abundance successful unless we move in the direction of his word  with full assurance that whatever is spoken has already been done in our lives.

Make every effort, move in the direction of faith without fail and receive God’s choicest blessings!

Action Oriented Faith

You don’t need to have faith as big in size as the mountain you have to scale. Just a mustard size faith is enough to crumble every mountain down if you speak out your faith.

There is a correlation between our faith and our speech.  In Luke 17:6, Disciples were asking Jesus to increase their faith, in reply Jesus said “If you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mulberry tree, “Be uprooted and planted in the sea, and it will obey you.” Jesus was telling his disciples that the size of the faith doesn’t matter,  what actually matters is a mustard size faith that speaks and is action oriented, A faith that doesn’t run away to see the problem rather commands the problem to leave and go away.

Action oriented faith is active and doesn’t remain silent to see the problem which could exist in any size or shape, whether in the form of a giant mountain or big tree. Whether the problem has just taken root or has been in existence for years and has turned into a full grown tree,  Mustard size faith is powerful in every situation.

Mustard Size Faith works in a sequence to bring miracle into the life of a believer:

1. It looks at the problem rather than closing its eyes. Sometimes we tend to ignore a negative situation or try every measure to escape the pain that is often associated with adverse situations. But Jesus said “Speak to the mountain… Or Speak to the tree…” Unless you look at the problem in the eyes, how would you speak to it. Look at the intensity of the problem rather than ignoring its existence. Acknowledge that there is a problem that needs to be removed and you are the one who is going to do that.

2. The moment you look at the problem, you might be tempted to say something negative. This is where you need to be cautious. There is a direct relation between what we see and speak. We speak what we have seen, which is natural. But Jesus didn’t ask us to gauge the negative impact of the situation nor how will it adversely affect the future. He forbids us to speak anything at this moment. To remain silent at such a situation doesn’t just need practice but the grace of the Holy Spirit. Its the power of the spirit that gives utterance to the believer and  the same spirit fills a child of God with self control that helps a child of God to refrain from speaking negative.

3. Once you have looked at the problem and have not given into the temptation to speak negative, you are ready to turn your faith into action by speaking it right to the problem. Speak to the mountain or tree or bush whatever has taken root and created chaos in your life, Speak for its not you or your strength but the power of the faith that manifests by your words. Once you have spoken the word, the miracle will happen.

4. What you have to say is to ask the problem to be removed from its present state and go somewhere else where it can’t exist. Jesus, when taking the example from a mulberry tree said, “Be uprooted and planted in the sea.” which is contrary to the nature of the tree to plant itself into a sea. Similarly, in Matthew 21:16 Jesus said “If you say to this mountain Go throw yourself into the sea, it will be done.”

Your mustard size faith is commanding the mountainous problem or the full grown tree type problem to leave your life right now but it doesn’t just stop there, it goes further and commands it to go to the sea and plant itself there which is not a natural place for its existence.

But you are doing more than just getting rid of a mountain or tree. Jesus is granting you permission to change the natural order of the things if and only if you have mustard size faith. He says that you will work beyond the confines of natural order and leap into the supernatural realm where the word prevails and everything else is in its submission. The new order of the world that father first created when he brought heaven and earth into existence by his powerful word. By possessing a mustard size faith your word will begin operating in the world where word mixed with faith still works. Its not just removing a problem that the Lord has in mind but granting you an access into the new order of things where HIS Word is supreme. What a mighty God we serve! Who has given such power to his lowly creation. Blessed be his name, the one who is who was and who is to come.

Use your mustard size faith not just to be free from every mountain or problem trees but to gain an access into a place where the word is supreme and where every knee bows and every tongue confesses that Jesus is the Lord, What problem can exist in the sea of the knowledge of our Lord.
