The Parable of the two sons

Matthew 21:28-31, “What do you think? There was a man who had sons. He went to the first and said, “Son, go and work today in the vineyard.” “I will not.” he answered, but later he changed his mind and went. Then the father went to the other son and said the same thing. He answered, “I will, sir, but he did not go. “Which of the two did what his father wanted?” “The first”, they answered. Jesus said to them, “I tell you the truth, the tax collectors and the prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you.”

Jesus is speaking to all of us today through these verses. If we are born and brought up in christian home, it doesn’t mean anything. What matters in the sight of God is obedience.

There are people coming from other religions since they have tasted the goodness of Jesus in their lives. They know that Jesus didn’t come to establish any religion but a relationship with God, the Father. Those who have experienced the love of father through Jesus Christ, are ready to do whatever the father wants.

These people are full of zeal and devotion for the Lord. These people take the word of God seriously since they have found something they never had before in their lives. These people know the value of the treasure they have found in Christ. These people become a light to the nations to bring  the goodness of God to others.

This is an awakening call for those who are born and brought up in Christian homes.

Let’s take the word of God seriously from this moment on-wards. Let’s ask the Holy Spirit to help us become obedient to God. Let’s become diligent coworkers for the kingdom. Let’ work hard to bring many to the kingdom of heaven.

Remember the reason you first came to the Lord! Don’t let your first love ever fade away.

Don’t leave your Jerusalem!

Don’t leave the place where the LORD has placed you for His glory!

Some people have a hard time discerning their planting place, so they move here and there, doing this and that for the Lord, just to find out that they are at a wrong place.

If you need to know “your Jerusalem”, spend time in the presence of the Lord, pray and let the Spirit of the Lord lead you. If you feel peace despite storms at a place, this is a sure sign that the Lord has placed you there. Don’t move!

If somehow you move out of your Jerusalem, the Lord will bring you back to the same place (if you allow him to) for this is the place where you will be blessed!

In old testament, Ruth chapter 1, we read about a man named Elimelech, who left Jerusalem and went to Moab. He left Jerusalem because there was a famine in that land.

Do you see no prosperity in your Jerusalem? Even though you dont see anything as of yet. Don’t leave this place. You will have to come back to the same place after you have wasted precious years of your life.

This is what happened with Elimelech. There was a famine in Jerusalem so he left with his wife, sons and daughter in laws. But he and his sons died in Moab and His wife Naomi came back to Jerusalem, after she heard that the Lord had come to the aid of his people.

Where are you running? Are you in Jerusalem or Moab? May be there is a famine in your Jerusalem right now and you are eagerly looking forward to leave it to move to another place. Don’t do that. You will have to come back to your Jerusalem for this is where the Lord will come down to bless you!

Be specific in your prayers

“Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receive; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened. Which of you, if his Son asks for bread, will give him a stone? or if he asks for a fish will give him a snake?” Matthew 7:7-11

The Lord is the creator of heaven and earth. Everything is possible for him and through him we have received one blessing after another in heavenly realm.

The Lord has given us all the blessings in heavenly realm but we need to call them by name and claim to see them moving in our lives.

The word of the Lord tells us clearly that if we ask for bread, this is exactly what we will receive from the father. Father will not give us stones instead. Likewise if we ask for fish, we will not receive snake from the father.

We need to be specific in our prayers.

If we are specific in our payers, we show to the Lord that we are fully prepared and ready to receive our blessings. If we ask for general blessings, it could mean that either we are not ready to receive our blessings or we are not sure if we will receive what we are asking in our prayers. Both of these show that we have doubts and unless we have removed doubts, we will not receive answer to our prayers.

Be specific in your prayers, Show to the Lord that you are fully prepared to receive what you are asking for and you trust him fully that he will send answer to your prayers.

Be specific and receive what you are asking for in prayers!

Blessed is the man

“Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked, nor stand in the way of sinners, nor sits in the seat of scoffers; but his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruits in its season, and its leaf does not wither. In all that he does, he prospers. The wicked are not so, but are like chaff that the wind drives away. Therefore the wicked will not stand in the judgment, nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous; for the LORD knows the way of the righteous, but the way of the wicked will perish.” Psalm 1:1-6

Psalm chapter 1 emphasizes the qualities that keep a righteous man apart from wicked man. It clearly states that you and I will be blessed if we will not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of the sinners or even sit in the seat of the scoffers.

In this time and age we tend to think that its ok to sit with anyone. We think that the more “inclusive” we are the more people will like us. Bible tells us that we are in the world but not of the world. We have been separated from the world to take the light of the Gospel to those who are still in darkness. We need to be careful with whom we sit and talk and take advise from. We need to take the guidance of the Holy Spirit every day to discern where to go and to whom to say “no”.

If we ask the Holy Spirit to help us everyday, we will be guided by the Spirit to fulfill the purpose of God’s heart, in our lives and in the lives of others.

The last part of verse tells us that not only we have to refrain ourselves from associating with certain groups of people but we have to meditate on the word of God day and night, if we want to be blessed.

Those who meditate on the WORD are like trees planted by the streams of water. Men and Women who go under the guidance of the Holy Spirit and meditate on the word of God receive their strength from the word and become strengthened in body, soul, and spirit.

God has called us to become God pleasers not man pleasers!! Lets be careful how we lead our lives everyday and receive the honour to be called “Blessed” by the LORD.

Walls of Jericho

The book of Joshua chapter 6 talks about the City of Jericho and how its walls fell down. It is written, “Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel; none went out and none came in. And Jehovah said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thy hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valor. And ye shall compass the city, all the men of war, going about the city once.

Thus shalt thou do six days. And seven priests shall bear seven trumpets of rams’ horns before the ark; and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow the trumpets. And it shall be, that, when they make a long blast with the ram’s horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall go up every man straight before him.” Joshua 6:1-5

Jehovah told Joshua that HE had given Jericho in his hands. Please notice that when the Lord says that he has given you a blessing which could be a financial blessing, blessing of a spouse, dream job, new house, healing or multiplication – the blessing doesn’t appear in physical realm unless we do our part.

God is Spirit and HE has authority in heaven and on earth but we must be obedient to do the will of the Lord on this earth to bring about the fulfillment of God’s desire to bless us.

When the Lord told Joshua that HE had given Jericho in his hand. Joshua didn’t possess the City until he fought and claimed his victory over it.

The fight was easy since Jehovah had already won it for Joshua. All Joshua had to do is to follow the instructions to receive the victory in physical realm!

God’s instructions are hard to comprehend since our vision is limited and our knowledge is partial. We don’t know the mind of the Lord fully until we start following his commands. With every act of obedience, comes the greatest gift of the knowledge of God. The more we obey Him, the more HE reveals Himself to us.

Is there anything greater than knowing our creator? “Eternal life is to know God”, says Jesus.

Have you been praying for healing, multiplication, prosperity or anything else. The Lord has already delivered it in heavenly realm through his Son Jesus Christ. It is written in Ephesians, “We have been granted every single blessing in heavenly realm in Jesus Christ.” The only thing left for us to do is to FIGHT TO RECEIVE.

The fight is not hard since Jesus has already been declared victorious in heavenly and earthly realm. Our fight could be against the fleshly nature that rises against the knowledge of God, It would be against doubt or depression or negative attitude that is contrary to the nature of God. Our fight could be as easy as believing, praying, fasting of worshipping the Lord.

What have you been praying for? The answer is Yes and Amen in Jesus.

Fight your battle today to receive Christ earned VICTORY. Don’t worry about anything, since you have been declared victorious in the victory of the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords!!
