Revelation Series – Chapter 22: 1-5

22 Then the angel showed me the river of the water of life, as clear as crystal, flowing from the throne of God and of the Lamb down the middle of the great street of the city. On each side of the river stood the tree of life, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month. And the leaves of the tree are for the healing of the nations. No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and his servants will serve him. They will see his face, and his name will be on their foreheads. There will be no more night. They will not need the light of a lamp or the light of the sun, for the Lord God will give them light. And they will reign for ever and ever.

The angel who was sent to bring the great revelation to John showed him a river of the water of life. The river was flowing from the throne of God and of the lamb, who is the source of all blessings. It is written that we have been blessed with all blessings in heavenly realm in Christ Jesus. Without Jesus in our lives, we can’t experience the abundance of the blessings that may be surrounded us like river. If the origin of those blessings is not Jesus, they will never satisfy us fully. Its the river that flows from the throne that quenches our thirst. Pray that the Lord reveal the origin of the blessings that you may have in your life. Sometimes, our own desire and pursuit bring us blessings that could be disastrous in long term. Refuse to take anything that the father has not planted for your life and you will be blessed.

The tree of life is on each side of the river, bearing twelve crops of fruit, yielding its fruit every month and its leaves are for the healing of the nations.

When we walk with the Lord and drink from the water that flows from his throne we turn into fruitful trees that bear its fruits for the nourishment of the body of Christ, not just that, even when the fruits are still maturing, the leaves that we bear in our union with the Lord act as medicine for the souls. Leaves are the first sign of growth of a tree. Leaves that are fresh and green attract others to the tree. Leaves are the sign of our passion for the Lord that never runs out, Leaves show our first love for the Lord that others feel while we talk to them. We need healthy leaves to live the life of an ambassador of Christ. Christ makes his appeal through us that shines through the passion with which we speak about our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Leaves reflect our youthfulness and child-likeness that run to proclaim to the perishing world, the way Samaritan woman ran to the village to tell others about Christ. Our passionate testimony can bring healing to the nations! Guard your spiritual fervor.

Where the fire of passion is, there is no place for anything else. There can not remain anything that is not God sent. No curse can stay to those who are living a life that is full of passionate love for Christ, since they have made Christ their Lord and Saviour. Where the throne of Jesus is, there can remain no other throne or principality or power! When the servants of the Lord look at the face of the King, His name will be written on their foreheads. If you want to change your destiny, your future, your situation, your life you don’t need to do anything, just look up!  Look up to the place where the throne of God is! Look up to the face of Christ that washes away sin. The moment we change the focus of our heart and start looking at the face of Jesus, He begins to change our mind. We need to take the first step by looking up and revival will follow that will shake the world in Jesus name! Those who have received the name of Jesus will also be given the authority to rule with him.

The Armour of God

Ephesians 6:10, 14-18, “Finally be strong in the Lord and in his full power. Put on the full armour of God so that you may can take your stand against the devil’s schemes…Stand firm then with the belt of truth bucked around your waist with the breastplate of righteousness in place and with the readiness that comes from the Gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit which is the Word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. ”

Paul was writing this letter to the congregation of Ephesus urging them to be strong in the Lord for the battle that they were fighting is not against flesh and blood but against the forces of darkness. Paul was urging them to be equipped with the full armour of God so that they may remain firm and stay strong in the mighty power of the Lord.

Belt of truth – Belt of truth is the first and the foremost piece of the Armour of God that Paul has asked the children of God to carry. The enemy comes with the untruth and lie which can only be destroyed by the Word of God. Bible says that fill yourself with the word of God. Children of God, read the word out-loud, repeat it and claim it during the day and ask the Lord to fill you with the truth that is found at the core of the Word so that you may remain unaffected by the lie and deception of the enemy.

Breastplate of righteousness – Paul mentioned the breastplate a piece of the Armour of God since no-one can stand for the Lord unless he/she has believed on the finished work of the Lord on Cross. Christ is the end of the law. Those who try to establish their own righteousness based on the works of their hands have no place in the kingdom of God but only those who begin their Spiritual journey from the Cross. By looking at the bronze snake, the Israelites got deliverance, likewise those who look at the Cross receive the benefit of the work of Jesus on Cross. Believe that it is all done in the name of Jesus and you cannot add anything to it by your own works. By faith, declare that you carry the breastplate of righteousness and yo will be covered in the righteousness of God.

Readiness that comes from the Gospel of Peace – Jesus has given His own peace to us. Ask the Lord to  help you walk in his peace and make you eager to share it with others.

Shield of Faith -Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith. Receive help from Him today to remain in faith and He will help you to carry the shield of faith in His own strength.

Helmet of Salvation – Speak to your mind that its been washed by the blood of the lamb and the thoughts that are not from the Lord can’t dwell in it. Ask the Holy Spirit to control your thoughts and words as the Psalmist says, “May the word of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable to you.”

Sword of the Spirit – Carry the Word of the Lord and speak it out-loud to crush the evil thoughts.

Pray in the Spirit – Pray without ceasing as the Lord commanded, “Pray that you may not fall into temptation.”

Remain strong in the strength of the Lord and soon the Lord will come to deliver you in His Holy name.

Our God is alive

Our God is the LORD of the whole universe. Its by His command that everything came into being. His world was spoken when the Spirit was moving over the deep and preparing a place to receive the Word of the most High God.

At the right time, the Lord spoke up, “Let there be light.” and the living things began to appear, one by one, in the order that Father had desired.

Our God is living and alive and so is everything that belongs to Him. His Son, Jesus Christ came back to life and is sill moving on the earth and visiting those who are seeking God. Thousands of people (both Christians and non-Christians) testify how Jesus appeared to them and turned them into a whole new creation. These people talk about Jesus’ love and His great works in their lives that encourages others to seek the Lord and receive deliverance and peace.

God’s dwelling place is alive. God sets His throne among His people. Rev. 21:3,” Now the dwelling of God is with men, and He will live with them. They will be his people and God Himself will be their God. He will wipe every tear from their eyes.” When people gather together in the name of the Lord, there is great rejoicing and fullness of the joy of the Lord because of the presence of the Holy Lord among them. This emphasises the importance of praising and worshipping the Lord in the fellowship of other believers.

God’s word is alive and active. It carries the same power as it had when it was first spoken. It’s the Word of God that turned the formless earth into an ordered and blessed dwelling place for God’s children. The fullness of the Word of God has come down to us. We have the Bible, the written word of God as the most powerful weapon to bring things into order in our lives and in the lives of others. But the Word alone can’t work since it needs the mighty move of the Holy Spirit to turn the Word into reality.

Let’s try to be filled up with the word of God and spend time in the presence of the Lord so that we may have the fullness of the Spirit to turn every situation around for the praise of God’s Glory!!

Make your calling and election sure

2 Peter 1:10, “Be all the more eager to make your calling and election sure.”

Peters talks about becoming more eager to make our calling and election sure. How is it possible to make our calling and election sure?

Peter has given us a checklist to evaluate if we we are eager to make our election and calling sure for the service of the Lord. In verse 5-6 of the same chapter he says, “Make every effort to make add to your faith goodness; and to goodness knowledge, and to knowledge self control; and to self control perseverance; to perseverance godliness; to godliness brotherly kindness; to brotherly kindness, love.

Goodness to Faith: We have faith in the name of the Lord but faith alone is not enough, we need to add goodness to it that we receive when we proclaim that God is good all the time and all His ways. None of us can be good but God alone, as we spoken by Jesus when someone came o Him saying, “Good teacher what must I do to inherit eternal life? The Lord then answered, “Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.”

Following Jesus’ example, when we deny our own goodness and train ourselves to believe that God alone is good, we begin to add goodness to our faith.

Knowledge to Goodness: The more we know about the Lord, the more we will know about the goodness of the Lord. Being the followers of the Lord we must spend enough time in the presence of the Lord so that our knowledge of Him will grow and deepen with time.

Self Control to Knowledge: Knowledge, if not guarded, puffs us up. If we are not careful to add self control to our knowledge, we might be found ineffective to the service of the Lord.

Perseverance to Self Control: Perseverance comes to those who wait upon the Lord and when it is added to our self control, it enable become a mighty vessel to the service of the Lord.

Godliness to Perseverance: None of us can persevere in adverse situations unless we receive the grace of the Lord. Grace is available to us from our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Let’s approach the throne of grace where grace and mercy is available in our time of need.

Brotherly Kindness to Godliness: Godliness must be exercised by showing kindness to each other so that the body of Christ may be built up.

Love to Brotherly kindness: Love covers over a multitude of sins and we should show love to each other as has been commanded by the Lord, “Love one another.”

If we have these qualities, we will become productive and effective in our service to the Lord.

Don’t lose your hope

Hebrews 11: 6, “And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for whoever comes to Him must believe that He God exists and rewards those who seek Him earnestly.”

Faith is what enables us to see God even when the life circumstances and situations dictate just the opposite. We may not be seeing anything but the faith empowers us by connecting us with our creator in such a powerful way that we become His extension and start seeing things from His perspective.

Faith needs time to cultivate and grow. We need to speak the word of the Lord to strengthen our faith. Its our testimony and the blood of the lamb that shatters all the fiery arrows of the enemy and enable us to stand firm in all situations on the solid ground of the promises of God. Speaking the promises of God is extremely important as our senses need to hear the word of the Lord spoken out loud. When out ears hear the word of the Lord more often than the deception of the enemy, they focus on the word of God ignoring all the deception. Every time, the enemy comes to steal your joy, speak the word of the Lord to cut the power of the enemy and eventually the deception will leave your life. And the truth shall prevail.

The more we focus on the truth that is found at the cor of the word of God, the more we make ourselves free from the deception of the enemy for the Bible says, “You shall know the truth and the truth shall set you free.”

When we exercise the weapon of the word of God over the deception of the enemy, we glorify God and our trust deepens in Him.

But sometimes, it happens that those of us who have been waiting for a very long period of time begin to lose hope and think that they may never receive the answer to their prayers. They start compromising with their situation and believe that they may not see any change in their situation.

This is the lie of the enemy, who wants to steal our reward that comes to those who seek the Lord earnestly. The verse above says that we must not only believe on the existence of God but also on the promise that we will get our reward from the Lord.

If you have been praying for long without seeing any result and it seems that you are going to lose your hope. Stop for a moment, call Jesus, the author and finisher of  faith. Ask Him to send His grace that will renew your hope so that you may see and receive your reward.

Don’t lose hope. You have waited long enough and now the time has arrived to receive your reward from the father. Receive it in the name of Jesus today!
